Position Summary:

The person in this position will offer administrative support to the agency’s Finance Team

assisting with accounts payable, collecting revenue and expense documentation, communicating

daily with a third party accounting service, updating regular team reports and other tasks that will

help the agency maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. The Finance Team is

comprised of the Finance Manager, Finance Assistant, Director for Finance (or Acting Director

for Finance), and Executive Director.

Centro de Información is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with offices in Elgin,

Carpentersville, and Hanover Park. The mission of Centro de Información is empowering the

Latino and immigrant community to integrate effectively. Centro provides immigration and

naturalization services, employment assistance, emergency food pantry services, educational

seminars, public benefits outreach and advocacy, and other supportive services.

Centro has been serving the community since 1972 and assists more than 7,000 clients annually.

All office locations are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This position requires occasional participation in community events, which may take place

during weekday evenings or weekends.

Duties

  • Enter all vendor invoices into payment processing systems ensuring proper allocation of every expense to the appropriate agency approved budget account.

  • Assist with communication of all financial documents with accounting vendors for bookkeeping and auditing purposes.

  • Assist with the timely collection and preparation of all monthly documents required for grant reporting.

  • Communicate monthly finance-related deadlines to all agency staff.

  • Update monthly Finance Team reports to track grant invoice submission and payment dates, completion of monthly finance tasks, and more.

  • Organize folders with all required documentations for monthly grant invoices.

  • Submit monthly grant invoices when Finance Manager is absent.

  • Place orders for agency supplies as requested and approved by agency managers and supervisors.

  • Enter all in-kind, cash and check donations into the agency’s donor CRM account.

  • Deposit cash and checks at bank branches within 2 mile driving distance of office.

  • Follow agency’s fiscal policies and procedures, which includes understanding of Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 200 – Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost

  • Principles, and Audit Requirements for all agency expenses reimbursable by state and federal grant awards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications

  • Commitment to Centro’s mission and values.

  • Associate's Degree required, with courses completed in business administration or accounting.

  • Two years of accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred.

  • Nonprofit organization work experience a plus.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to maintain detailed, accurate and confidential records.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite and willing to learn online platforms.

  • Experience with QuickBooks Online preferred.

  • Bilingual Spanish / English a plus.

Starting Wage Range: $23.00 - $24.50 / hour
