To Apply for Citizenship, You Must:
Be 18 years old
Be a lawful permanent resident for at least 5 years
Be a lawful permanent resident for 3 years and married to a US citizen for 3 years
Have Prepared:
Residence card, Social Security Card, and driver's license or state identification
Dates of all travel outside the U.S. in the last 5 years
A list of your addresses and jobs with dates for the past 5 years
Spouse's name, date of birth, Social Security number and residence number (green card) or date of naturalization
Date of marriage and divorce from you and your spouse's previous marriages. names, date of birth, and residence numbers (green card) of your children (if applicable), and their addresses if they do not live with you
If you have been arrested, bring a certified court disposition
English is Not Necessary if:
You have been a permanent resident for 20 years and are age 50 or older
You have been a permanent resident for 15 years and are 55 years of age or older
If you are over 65 and have had permanent residence for 20 years, you only have to study 20 questions. You will take the exam in your language
Fees:
$10 fee to process the application and postage
Postal Order (Money Order) of $760 payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
